Asparagus harvest!

No pictures to show, but we had our first asparagus meal today. It was yummy! It's amazing the difference between store-bought and homegrown! As Corey put it, "This tastes buttery!" I had to pick several days to get enough, it's rather thick (though still tender), and it has bugs now, but we sure enjoyed what we got. I will have to get out the bug dust and there's always next year! :-)

Happy gardening!

Bird of the Day!

I'm going to have to turn this into a birding blog. :-)

Waiting for a wren... Last year we had a pair and they sang so prettily! I saw a wren just this morning on the deck, so hopefully they find this house!

Mr. Bluebird today...he posed for me very nicely for quite some time while I stood on our back deck. Hope he likes the mealworms I put out for him...enough to occupy the nearby house.

This day is for the birds!

Can you believe it...another really neat bird sighting! At first I thought this was an eagle (we have seen them in the area), but I think it's just a red-tailed hawk. It was still neat to watch. It perched in a neighbor's tree for a while and then flew off across our place. Thanks again to my 200 mm lens, I could get a decent picture and then I cropped it way in to get the pics you see below. What fun!

Bird sighting

I just walked outside to throw out the trash and heard the most beautiful songbird...I managed to get a good look at it and found it in the bird book...it's a Brown Thrasher. They are known for their distinctive melodies. I'm going to try and get a recording of his singing.
I got a picture with my 200 mm lens, but you can't see him very well in this picture.

Here's a stock photo showing the Brown Thrasher a lot better!

Hello, friends!

We have had some hits from some neat places and we wish we knew who you were! Leave us a comment...it doesn't take long! We'd LOVE to hear from you! It doesn't bother us who looks at our pictures, but we wonder who we could be in touch with. :-)
Have an awesome day!

View out our bedroom window...

The crabapples are truly at their peak right now. It seems like if I blink my eyes they will be gone and it will be the dog days of summer. How do I keep Spring with me all year long? I just want to savor it!!!!!

Bedroom decorating update

The curtains are hanging! They still need to be hemmed, but they're up and it makes the room look totally different! I like it!

Photo tag

Well, I had a hard time finding a picture in the 4th folder...it didn't have 4 pictures. :-) and then when I chose a different method, the picture that resulted is AWFUL! My Kodak point-and-shoot whacked out on me and all my pictures from our stint in the St. Patrick's Day parade had a pinkish cast to them. Here's one, though it's not the fourth. The fourth one is barely distinguishable.
All for now!

Kind of neat, in an artsy kind of way! :-)

I got tagged by Megan. So those of you that I have tagged, here's what you do:

1. Choose the fourth folder where you store pictures on your computer.
2. Choose the fourth picture.
3. Explain that picture.
4. Tag 4 other people.

Hmmm...who are you?

Another sign of spring...

The bluebirds are back! With 2 houses up now, we hope to get at least one family of bluebirds to stick around. Somehow the sparrows seem to always get in first.
Oh, the bluebirds are so beautiful! Such a brilliant blue flying across the newly green lawn.

Celebrate Spring!

Spring is my favorite season, so it was fun to make these yummy cookies to celebrate the slow, stuttering start of our Spring. The boys enjoyed helping to cut them out and mommy had fun putting her limited decorating talents to work. The colors were pretty anyway! :-)
I hope you are enjoying the beginnings of Spring!

Trevin had to try his hand at the decorating, too...in the bowls, that is. The question is, how much got in the bowl and how much in his mouth? :-)
