Seeing the animals at the Dairy
We have a wonderful dairy farm near us. They sell their own milk, ice cream, and butter plus a bunch of other locally grown/made yummy stuff. But best of all they host special days where anyone can come out and make themselves at home on the farm and enjoy all the animals. Here are Logan and Trevin enjoying the calves, the Australian Shepherd puppy and a bunny.

Bluebird news
The bluebirds were beginning to build a nest in the new bluebird house this morning. How exciting! I had just bought some mealworms and put some out for them to try and lure them, but looks like they came on their own. Now tonight there's not much activity and there's not much of a nest built, but the mealworms are all gone! We were not here during the day to watch them, so not sure what happened, but hopefully they are still around and will finish what they started. I probably won't get any pictures as the house is a ways from our back deck.
In other birding news, I set some things out to attract the Baltimore Orioles back...a feeder with sugar water and a bowl of grape jelly! That's what they suggested at the bird store! :-) I'll let you know how that goes.

Also bought a suet cage and cake and it will be fun to see what we get on there. Nuthatches and woodpeckers are supposed to like those.
Found a robin's nest in a crabapple tree. I lifted Logan up and he said he saw some blue eggs, so we hope he's learning his colors correctly! I'll have to see if I can get up there and get a picture without knocking the nest down. :-)

Rhubard Strawberry pie
More birds!
We've spotted some Baltimore Orioles around our place...they're such a bright spot of orange...and here is the female. She was enjoying the blossoms on this honeysuckle.
Here is a lovely Yellow Warbler. I believe it is either a female or a young warbler. The male has more noticeable brown streaks on his chest. She hopped up and down the branches of the tree...they feed on insects on the leaves.
And the other day I caught the Momma wren going into the wren house we put up (there is a nest of sticks in it!). House is occupied! And now we get to hear the beautiful singing! It's hanging in a tree just right off our deck.
Mr. Bluebird sitting on our gutter the other day.
A finch on our feeder...still trying to figure out if it's a Purple Finch or House Finch. I want to catch a Goldfinch on the feeder, too. They are SO bright!
