Here's what's happening in the butterfly house!
This gentleman emerged yesterday. You can tell the males by the 2 black spots on their veins in the lower wings.
I had a bunch of caterpillars that must have all been "born" as eggs at the same time, because they're all J-hooking at the same time. Here are 6 and there was one other one in another part of the house and several more cats that will do the same in the next couple of days, I'm sure. Tomorrow they should all be in chrysalis form.
...and here, later in the week, they indeed turned into chrysalises the next day.
This little lady emerged today...notice the absence of spots on the veins of the lower wings...and her veins are thicker.
And just had to show you how the big cats strip a milkweed stalk of its leaves pretty quickly! It took them about a day to eat 3 stalks. (granted there WERE 11 caterpillars!)
